Saturday Afternoon

I helped on the drawing table, there was a competition with it.  I also went around and took photos for the guy who organised the whole thing. When I got there I helped finish setting up the table where the drawing would be done.  I also helped set up the table and chairs for the face painting.  Billy and I rushed home and got a nice big mirror so the children could see what they looked like.

The dinner was yummy.  With salads as well as sausages and bread.  Although we werent sure how many people would turn up there was enough and it was well catered for :)  There was a good turn out of people.

A group that have staying down here from a bible collage up north, helped out.  They also put on a play about Jesus.  One of them did a mini sermon on the true meaning of Easter.  They were a neat bunch of young people.

At the end of it all I helped clean up.  This included going for a walk along Riverbend Road to the main roads to collect the nice, big signs that helped advertise the event.  I really enjoyed tonight and thrive on helping out at things like this :)

Wet and Wild Night Keas

Imagine if you will (youll have to as my cameras charger broke and my camera is so old they dont mae the chargers for them anymore - I dont like being without a camera :() 20 very excited and rowdy 5 to 7 year olds gathered together on the beach.  It may be your idea of hell but to me it was a wonderful start of another Kea evening.

Tonight my Keas joined with an nearby group of Keas and had a Wet and Wild (I warned you!! LOL) evening here.

We had a treasure hunt in the sand for red bottle tops.  The treasure being Easter eggs of course :)  The bottle tops seemed to be well hidden and so many of the parents whom chose to stay and us leaders helped the children find them :)  We of course were helping the children so we didnt get an Easter egg ;)

There were running races.  The parents had one too :)  There were friendships made between the groups and deepen (Daniel knows a couple of children that are in class at school but go to the other group).

At the end of the evening (and after we had been dismissed) Daniel and one of the Keas from the other  group found a huge log near the incoming sea and let off some energy pretending it was a boat.  The boys father and I chatted :)  Just before we went the boys decided along with the Keas older brother that they should at least get a little wet from the sea.  So off came the shoes and in they waded :)  Another fun Kea evening was had by all :)

Im Back :)

After a hiatus of a few months I am back.  Missed my bloggie friends :)  Missed writing.

So whats been going on with us?

I am officially a Kea Leader and have been on some training :)  I am still teaching Sunday School and enjoying my little class of 3 to 7 year olds.  I am on a roster with 2 other teachers :)  Ive been involved in one beach clean up where I ended up slicing my finger open (its all better now).  I collected for the local hospice a few weeks back.  I also have  been reflecting on the fact that two years ago I wanted to volunteer and  this is where that has lead to so far.

My older son is in his last year of home schooling.  Hes growing up.  It was pleasing to hear him talking to his sister on Skype and he says he will home school his children one day :)
With it being his last year I am looking forward to either retraining or doing inhome childcare next year :)

My youngest son is also growing up (I still want to put a brick on his head and keep him my baby forever).  He has settled into a new class at school with only some of his mates from the last two years in his particular year.  He only has this term (about a month) left of being a Kea scout then after the school holidays he will be a Cub scout.

My daughter is half way though her ECE training and doing well still :)  She is getting more confident :)  It gave me a thrill the other day when she asked my advice on a session she was leading and I helped her come up with an activity which the children seemed to really enjoy :)
